Feather & Black, Mobile Fun and Tobar, may not, at first glance,
seem to have much in common. But, they do have one thing that
links them to one another; each has recently launched a spin-off
brand.
In November, mobile-phone accessories etailer Mobile Fun launched
a new website catering for the electronics and entertainment
accessories sector. The new site, GamingZap.com, sells online
gaming accessories and peripherals such as gaming mice, keyboards
and headsets. Mobile Fun already has one spin-off site, GearZap,
which sells laptop and tablet accessories. According to managing
director Mo Hussain, Mobile Fun identified demand from its
existing customers looking for gaming accessories on its existing
websites and so the new site was created.
Also in November, gifts and novelties cataloguer/wholesaler Tobar
unveiled its new consumer site in time for Christmas.
Something-Personalised.com, which specialises in personalised
gifts, joins the company’s portfolio of brands, including
Hawkin’s Bazaar, Letterbox and Christmas-themed Stocking
Fillers.
Although Feather & Black has been selling children’s furniture
alongside its main range for quite a number of years, 2010 was
the first time it mailed a children’s furniture catalogue. It was
also the year that saw Feather & Black open its first children’s
concession in Liverpool’s Home Quarter, in October. According to
a spokesperson for Feather & Black, the kids range had
“grown to such a size that it deserves a standalone
catalogue to showcase the furniture and linens at their
best”.
The company mailed a 36-page Kids catalogue to its existing
database and catalogue requesters and offered recipients 10
percent off purchases made before 28th November. The furniture
featured within ranged from cots and changing units, through to
desks and bookcases for older children.
