How is it for you?

How is it for you?

It has certainly been a time of radical change for all DCA member companies but what it has also highlighted is the sheer agility and ‘can-do’ spirit that resonates throughout our business community. It is not surprising to learn that many member companies are reporting record sales this Spring having been able to respond to customer needs and carry on fulfilling orders. Some have been so busy as to have to suspend order taking for periods simply to catch up with demand. Others who experienced a dearth of orders early on during the lockdown are now also saying that customers are responding and placing orders which they had held back from.

Whilst there have been assorted webinars, hosted by various suppliers for their clients, in which trading levels have been discussed, DCA advisory board member Martin Harvey is keen to hear from all members and the wider direct commerce community so as to collate a more comprehensive view of the market and how businesses in differing merchandise verticals are faring. We know, for example, that those in the gardening sector who have robust direct operations functions have performed exceptionally well against their competitors who have been more reliant (in the past) on garden centre and nursery site sales.  We are also aware that those selling kitchen wares and foodstuffs are enjoying a boom as consumers are cooking much more during the lockdown.  Those with toys, games, puzzles, art & craft materials, books and DIY lines are also finding stronger demand.

So please, take a few moments to complete & return our simple survey. The results will be shared with all who take part.

In other news. DCA events have been suspended for the time being but as soon as it is safe and practical to recommence we will be announcing a new programme. In the meantime, a lot of work is being undertaken by us to connect members with prospective suppliers and advisors – as well as to support member businesses during these unprecedented times.
