Bucking the current trend of store closures, Travis Perkins owned Toolstation has opened its 400th store. The new premises in Balham, South London is the first of 60 planned openings this year, on top of the 67 which were opened last year. Specialising in tools and building supplies, Toolstation customers span tradespeople and serious DIYers. It generated sales of £354 million in 2018.
“We are bucking the trend, with our growth coming from delivering convenience for our trade customers through their buying experience and as a low-cost, lean and efficient business,” said James MacKenzie, managing director, Toolstation. “This is demonstrated by our branch format, which is smaller than traditional retailers, fitting well into industrial estates and even on local high streets.”
