Never one to shy away from huge targets, Alibaba’s Jack Ma told delegates at the World Economic Forum in Davos that his business plans to increase its customer base by extending its ecommerce platform to small overseas businesses wanting to generate sales in China. Currently Alibaba’s primary customer base is located in China where it has over 270 million end customers as well as close on 10 million small business merchants using its platform. Ma said that his business has no need to compete with Amazon, rather it can offer a far greater number of smaller merchants with access to the fast developing Chinese market.
