Amazon is rumoured to be about to launch its own delivery service network in the USA in order to save costs and achieve full control of its end to end logistics process. Reports in the US suggest that plans for “Ship with Amazon” are well advanced and that it will, in addition to carrying its own customer orders, target its marketplace sellers with an offering at rates which will undercut carriers like UPS and FedEx. The marketplace behemoth is expected to commence initial trials in Los Angeles prior to rolling out the service nationally. It is not yet known whether opportunities for a similar offering in other geographic locations are being considered.
