A further 1200 permanent jobs are to be created by Amazon when it opens a new distribution centre in Warrington later this year.
“We are thrilled to begin recruitment for 1200 new permanent roles in Warrington with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits from day one,” said Stefano Perego, Amazon’s director of UK fulfilment. The business is offering fulfilment centre employees a starting rate of £7.65 an hour which it says will rise to £8.15 per hour plus after two years.
A further facility will be developed in Coventry in 2018 which will act as a dedicated centre to receive and sort millions of products sold on the Amazon site. This will create a further 1650 jobs.
