Asos plans to set aside its Fradley Park fulfilment centre

As the challenged eCommerce fashion retailer Asos continues to cut operating costs, it has announced that it will not now be using the 437,000 sq.ft. automated facility at Fradley Park it had been investing since 2019, to the tune of £90m.

The business has cut its previously high levels of stock and is operating in a much ‘cleaner’ and more efficient way, meaning that the new site is technically redundant for the time being. Asos says that by mothballing Fradley Park, it will be able to save around £20m a year whilst retaining the options of either selling it off or re-opening it as and when needed.
