B&Q tests smart price tag

Thought by many to herald the dawn of automated variable
pricing in stores according to time of day, shopper profiles, or the need to
move slow stock, B&Q is trialling a wifi enabled electronic price tag that
will alter the price that an individual customer pays. Identified via chips in
their mobile devices as they walk past display shelves, customers will be
offered a personalised price based upon loyalty or spending habit data. The
solution is already being deployed in its French Castorama chain. LK Bennett
& Sole Trader adopt store ordering MNP has supplied both LK Bennett and
Sole Trader with its tablet based in store ordering platform StoreActive. It is
being rolled out by both retailers in time for Christmas to fully utilise
available inventory. The platform utilises Verifone’s Vanguard payment service
for fully tokenised transactions.
