boohoo posts record half-year results

boohoo achieved sales of £817 million for the six months to August, equating to an increase of £250 million over last year. This, if anything, serves to show that its customers have paid little to no attention to the furore surrounding boohoo’s supply chain following a media investigation which unearthed a series of issues concerning breaches of employment regulations in Leicester factories which supply the business.

CEO John Lyttle said; “Our business, along with many others, has faced some of its most challenging times in recent months: the onset of the pandemic meant we had to adapt our operations with nearly all office-based colleagues working from home; we introduced new ways of working safely in our distribution centres, and we have comprehensively investigated reports on concerning and unacceptable practices in our Leicester supply chain.

“The group has continued to gain market share in all key markets and we remain optimistic about the group’s prospects with the belief that it is well-positioned to continue making progress towards leading the fashion eCommerce market globally.”

The business is forecasting its medium-term growth to be 25 per cent per year with an adjusted margin of 10 per cent.
