The British Film Institute (BFI) has launched a transactional
website selling books, DVDs, gifts and film-related products. The
site, which went live in September, complements the institute’s
Filmstore at BFI Southbank, London. Filmstore.bfi.org.uk is now
responsible for more than 20 per cent of total Filmstore sales.
Green Jersey designed the site using the Actinic eCommerce
platform.
Another British institution, the British Museum, has gone live
with a new website and new domain name-www.britishmuseum.org. The
online shop, www.britishmuseumshoponline.org/icat/shoponline, is
integrated with the main site and was built on the Venda
platform. The eCommerce site provides dynamic searching,
cross-selling and personalisation capabilities as well as advance
imaging-a function that is particularly useful for viewing detail
on reproductions and prints, said a museum spokesperson.
