Cdiscount seeking UK bargain hunters

When times are tough, consumers hunt even more eagerly for
bargains. Which makes the timing for Cdiscount’s December launch
into Britain ideal.

A Paris-based etailer, which had a turnover of €650 million
($871 million; £582 million) in 2007, Cdiscount says that in
France its sales are nearly three times those of Amazon.fr. The
10-year-old company sells products across a broad range of
categories, including fashion, home goods, and consumer
electronics, at discounts of up to 50 per cent. Its parent
company, Groupe Casino, also owns Monoprix, Casino Supermarkets,
and other retail chains.
