Conran Shop sold to the Marandi family

Conran Shop sold to the Marandi family

The loss-making Conran Shop has been acquired in a deal which will enable it to continue to trade. Founded by Sir Terence Conran in 1973, it operates two London based UK stores along with two branches in Paris, four in Japan and one in Seoul.

Sir Terence commented: “I remain passionately fixated on the future and this deal secures our legacy. It was clear we share so many common beliefs about the future of the Conran Shop brand globally. The Marandi family’s investment and expertise will help our stores grow and build on our rich legacy in the world of design, furniture and the very best products for the home.” Javad Marandi, who controls the company which made the acquisition, has an extensive portfolio of property including Soho Farmhouse’s Oxfordshire estate as well as a hotel in Cognac.
