Dobbies has selected Wincaton to provide D2C order fulfilment, store distribution and home delivery services. The garden centre business has entered into an initial three-year contract to enable it to provide improved service to its customers. The garden products sector players who were fully set up to service online customers during the year’s lockdowns and trading disruptions achieved sharp uplifts in sales at the expense of those who could not cope.
Under the agreement, Wincanton will create a supplier consolidation platform for Dobbies at its shared fulfilment centre in Wigan which is designed to save costs and optimise in-store stock availability. It will also fulfil direct to customer orders from the same facility, with large items delivered to customers using Wincanton’s two person home delivery service.
Dobbies CEO Graeme Jenkins said: “At Dobbies we are focused on delivering the best possible customer experience, both in-store and online. Wincanton has a proven track record and we look forward to working in partnership with them.”
