Capping off a tough year for the DIY sector, Screwfix and
B&Q owner Kingfisher reports that total sales for the fourth quarter were
up 1.5 percent in the 14 weeks to 2nd February compared with the same period
last year. In the UK, Screwfix delivered a sales rise of 10.3 percent to £155
million, but the growth was offset by a 6.4 percent decline at B&Q.
Overall, Kingfisher expects total sales for the year to be £10.57 billion, 2.4
percent lower than last year but 0.5 percent up on a constant currency basis.
