GXO Logistics has assigned an agreement with Dunelm in which it will provide increased capacity for its home delivery fulfilment operations in Stoke on Trent.
“We’re very excited about the opportunity to work with Dunelm, which saw a 115 per cent surge in online sales in the last 12 months,” said Gavin Williams, GXO managing director for UK & Ireland. “We’re looking forward to helping the company increase its capacity for home delivery, especially in the run-up to its peak homewares sales season in January.”
GXO will outfit Dunelm’s new facility in Stoke with the latest technology, including Cognex machine vision systems and ProGlove wireless wearable barcode scanners, as well as train Dunelm staff to use GXO’s systems to pick and pack customers’ online orders from inventory and hand them to carriers.
“We’re delighted to be working with GXO which has a proven ability to improve logistics with large customers around the globe,” said Brett Morris, Dunelm head of parcel home delivery. “We looked at our outstanding growth in online sales as well as our expectations for future growth and realised we needed to increase capacity and improve our customer proposition within home delivery operations.
“This agreement with GXO will help us to add the capacity necessary to handle growth of our home delivery business and reduce our carbon emissions by making our deliveries more efficient. Long-term, working with GXO will benefit our shareholders and customers as well as our suppliers and communities.”
