Hornby plc has acquired a 25 per cent stake in Warlord Games – a business founded in 2007 and which holds licences to produce games and miniatures for TV series Dads Army and 2000 AD comics.
Following the deal, which saw Hornby invest £1.25m for the initial shareholding, Hornby also secured the option to acquire a majority stake in the business after two years, and then to acquire any remaining shares on future anniversaries of the original deal.
Warlord will continue to be managed by its existing directors. John Stallard, chief executive and founder of Warlord said: “We are very much looking forward to working closely with Hornby as we have been big fans for many years.
“We see this as a huge opportunity to build Warlord long into the future, as well as to contribute in any way we can to the future success of Hornyby and its stable of iconic brands, as there are innumerable opportunities and synergies in sales, marketing and production.”
