Hotter Shoes improves store communications

Multichannel retailer Hotter Shoes which was founded in 1959  will deploy a full managed MPLS network from Vodat International to improve communications across its 68 stores and speed data transfer to and from head office. As part of the project Vodat is also supplying a Wi-Fi network which will allow customers to the browse the shoe specialist’s website when in store as well as support mobile devices (MPos).  David Ainsworth, Head of IT at Hotter Shoes, said “Previously it could take up to four days to resolve network failures. Managing our network in-house placed great demand upon the team’s IT resources and was no longer sustainable for our evolving business model. Since migrating across to the Vodat network any issues are dealt with in a matter of hours. Hotter is a multichannel retailer and we need a comprehensive view of the customer at all times, so a secure network capable of managing all our business data was essential.”

Hotter has already opened five new stores this year and has plans for five more scheduled for 2014 in addition to its highly successful mail order catalogue and online shopping operation. The business is the UK’s largest shoe manufacturer,  producing a pair of hand finished shoes every 20 seconds for its one million + customers in its own state of the art factory.
