British preppy clothing retailer Jack Wills, which positions
itself as the UK’s Abercrombie & Fitch, has opened its first US
store in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. According to the
Financial Times, the retailer had been using viral marketing to
build its brand presence in the US since it sold a minority stake
to private equity firm Inflexion in 2007.
Making its way towards Europe is New York-based accessories
retailer Coach, which is entering the European market through a
joint venture with British menswear brand Hackett. The
partnership will see Coach open stores in the UK, Spain,
Portugal, and Ireland within the next 12 months. It is also
opening concessions in 14 Printemps stores throughout
France.
