Linda Bennett has reportedly appointed NM Rothschild to look at
strategic options for her LK Bennett business. This is the second
time the fashion merchant has been up for sale. Three years ago
it was on the market with an approximate price tag of £75
million, but Bennett reportedly abandoned because bids came in
well below the asking price.
“LK Bennett has performed extremely well over the last 18 months
thanks to Linda’s drive and determination,” Peter Higgins,
a former nonexecutive director of the business, told
Catalogue/e-business. “She has continued to select
great shoe ranges, has improved the clothes offering and always
does great deals with the landlords on her store locations. The
caveats for any potential purchaser, as ever in an owner-managed
business, will be how strong the management team is, how good the
systems are and how to keep Linda motivated once the deal is
done.”
