Nauticalia, a cataloguer/retailer of maritime-inspired gifts, has
taken over the production, manufacturing, and marketing of the
Beken of Cowes calendar range. The partnership, says Mark Wilby,
Nauticalia’s operations director, sees Beken’s calendars
“fit nicely” into the Nauticalia business.
The Beken calendars feature photographs of yachts and other
boats. Nauticalia, which also has a wholesale business, will sell
the calendars to its retail and mail order clients, as well as
direct to consumers via its own catalogues, website, and 10
stores; Beken will receive royalties.
“Our core wholesale business is to the marine industry-from
nautical gift shops and chandlers to ocean-going liners,”
Wilby says. Nauticalia distributes around 10,000 copies of its
trade catalogue worldwide. The company also operates in the
corporate gifts market and will be promoting the calendars
through that channel as well.
