Neptune implements Empirica WMS


Furniture and accessories retailer has implemented the Empirica warehouse management system (WMS) from Chess to provide greater control over inventory at its new consolidated facility in Swindon.  In addition to managing conventional warehouse operations, Empirica has been fully integrated with other applications to support processes like bespoke product and finish as well as supporting an on-site retail outlet and a growing ecommerce operation.

Neptune has progressed rapidly in recent years to develop an “edited design” concept comprising a complete range for the home – from kitchen to bathroom and including furniture and accessories. It sells direct to customers via its website and design centres in the UK and overseas as well as through selected retail partners and independent interior designers. Annual sales at the business,  which employs a team of 140, are currently c£23 million, up from £8 million just two years ago.

Neptune is enjoying greater efficiencies from the Empirica solution and  expects to achieve payback on its investment in round two years. The business is currently building a 38,000 sq.ft. extensions to its facility which will provide higher capacity as it continue on its growth path.
