Beauty products marketer Avon has launched an
online community enabling customers to “connect” with
their Avon representatives online. The community, called Avon
Connects, allows customers to buy from their local Avon
representative online–and continue to receive discounts–without
face-to-face contact. The site also aims to further engage
customers through editorial content, videos and photos. The
community launched internally in September 2010, and has seen
more than 55,000 users register on the site to date. For more on
online communities, see Community
Spirit in our February issue.
Marks & Spencer has appointed Tesco
Direct‘s chief executive Laura Wade-Gery as executive
director of multichannel ecommerce.
Cataloguer/retailer Pia Jewellery has gone live
with “social-commerce popup stores”. The stores,
built by Merchenta, use existing product feeds to dynamically
display products across social, display and affiliate networks.
For example, on Pia’s Facebook page, users clicking on the
“Shop Pia!” tab are shown a rotating selection of
products, which they can click through and buy from the Pia
website.
