Video-game retailer Game has appointed
Vodafone UK consumer director Ian Shepherd as
chief executive with effect from 28th June. For the 19 weeks to
12th June, total group sales were down by 11.4 percent and
like-for-like group sales for the same period were down by 12.3
percent. In the UK and Ireland, total sales were down by 18.5
percent. Highlighting a migration from the high-street to the web
for video-game purchases, in Game’s online department sales are
up 13.5 percent on the same period last year.
Jewellery business Tiffany & Co has brought out
an iPhone app that allows customers to browse its range of
diamond engagement rings. The app will appear in English–in the
US, UK, Canada, and Australia–and in Japanese, with prices in
local currency. Prices will not appear in the Chinese version or
in the international English version that is available to all
other countries.
AOL has sold social-networking site
Bebo to Criterion Capital
Partners for $10 million. AOL paid approximately $850
million for Bebo when it acquired it just two years ago.
