Net-a-Porter boosted sales at luxury-products
group Richemont in the first half of the year.
Sales at the conglomerate, which owns Cartier and Chloe, rose 22
percent in the six months ended 30th September. Factoring in
Net-a-Porter’s contribution, sales were up 37 percent at the
group. Operating profit almost doubled (up 95 percent) to
€760 million (£643 million) during the period.
Edinburgh-based Ortso, a website that
effectively has retailers competing for the customer’s business,
has added former New Look boss Phil Wrigley to
its list of backers, reports the Herald Scotland.
Electronic components distributor
Electrocomponents announced a 24.4 percent rise
in revenues for the six months ended 30 September, to £563.3
million. Profit before tax doubled during the period from
£24.8 million in 2009 to £50.5 million. To further
drive growth, the company says it will continue to invest in its
international markets and ecommerce initiatives.
The Webb Group, a supplier of home entertainment
products, has promoted Joe McNicholas from commercial director to
chief executive. McNicholas joined in 2007 when the business
acquired Choices UK, where he had been product
director. Bernard Kumeta, Webb Group’s managing director, has
left the company.
