Pavers mounts bid for Barratts

Pavers is understood to have made an offer for part of the
Barratts business which entered administration in November for the third time.
Barratts had operated from 75 stores and concessions in the UK and Ireland,
employing 1035 staff. Some Barratts stores have already been closed with others
earmarked for closure unless a deal can be struck. Pavers which specialises in
comfortable shoes is understood to have made an offer of around £5 million
contingent on a swift transaction so as to retain staff and stock as well as trading
stores. Pavers currently operates 32 stores and 120 concessions in the UK and
reported sales of £63 million for the year for January 2012.
