RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) has revealed plans to expand globally from its US base. The luxury homewares retailer says that pent up demand as well as a strong housing and renovations market makes its timing ideal. The move will commence in April next year with the opening of a showroom in Aynhoe Park, an historic estate near Banbury in Oxfordshire, followed by France with the opening of RH Paris. Market watchers suggest that RH will present significant competition for upmarket homewares retailers when it opens in the UK.
RH CEO Gary Friedman said: “In total we have secured five locations in Europe including London, Munich and Dusseldorf, and are in final lease negotiations for an additional five locations which will open over the next two to three years.” It wasn’t made entirely clear whether there will be a London store in addition to that planned for Aynhoe Park.
RH revenues reached US $861m in its most recently filed financial year.
