With Will Kernan departing from the CEO role at River Island at the end of this month, the retailer has announced that Richard Bradbury, who held the CEO role until 2010, is to make a return in January. Bradbury will become executive chairman.

Clive Lewis, the current chair, said: “Will’s last day will be December 31st and he will remain with the business until the end of April to oversee the implementation of key digital projects.
“I am pleased to announce that, with effect from January 1st, Richard Bradbury will rejoin the business as executive chair with full responsibilities for leadership of the business. I will continue as a non-executive director and will work closely with Richard as will the rest of the board.
“Will led the business through a very difficult period and I have very much enjoyed working with him. He made a significant contribution and we wish him the best for the future.”
River Island’s marketing director Jill Gate has also left the business. She had joined two years ago from Photobox and had previously held senior marketing posts with Oasis and Warehouse.
River Island is now seeking a replacement for Kernan.
