The CWU has been forced to cancel its strike action which it had planned to take place on 16th-17th February. Royal Mail had issued a legal challenge against the strike claiming that the union had made an error in its strike notification.
In a statement Royal Mail said that it “welcomes the fact that the strike action has been called off by the CWU”, adding that it intended to use the time and space for further discussions to try to agree a deal and that it had suggested meetings this week.
The CWU’s strike mandate runs out on 17th February and it is currently balloting members on whether to strike for a further six months as the dispute over pay and conditions has yet to be resolved.
