Online bookseller The Book Depository and maternity apparel
cataloguer/etailer Isabella Oliver have won the Queen’s Award for
Enterprise: International Trade. The Queen’s Award is the highest
official UK award for British businesses, and winners are
announced on the monarch’s birthday every year.
The Book Depository won for its continued growth and success
overseas. “The Book Depository generated over 60 percent of
its revenues outside of the UK last year,” said managing
director Kieron Smith in a statement, adding that on the back of
the win he hopes to be able to increase the number of books
stocked and develop the range into other languages and
territories.
For Isabella Oliver, the US currently accounts for 70 percent of
its total international sales, followed by Europe and Canada. The
company aims to increase its focus on international growth
following the win.
