Trade Minister Lord Livingston has launched a new suite of services at the Autumn Fair, NEC., this week (Sep 8th) to help British businesses grow their online sales overseas.
The UKTI is working with e-marketplaces like Tmall China and Rakuten to smooth the way for British brands to enter newly emerging high potential markets. Since its pilot of the programme last November, 100 UK brands have launched in China through an e-marketplace, including Cath Kidston and Karen Millen. The UKTI team believes that some 50,000 British businesses have the potential to establish online trade channels overseas.
A support package for the e-Exporting Programme is on offer. At the launch Lord Livingston said “The UK leads the world in cross-border online sales, but there is still much more we can do to help British businesses seize this huge opportunity with forecasts of three billion online consumers in just three years. Trading online is a great way to start exporting to a new country, enhance distribution in an exciting market and effectively sell while you sleep. This is why we are launching the UKTI e-Exporting Programme to help businesses thrive broad in some of the world’s largest markets.”
