Strong performance from ASOS

ASOS has posted a 19 per cent increase in its annual sales to 31st August. It generated £3.26 billion with a pre-tax profit of £142.1 million, up from £109 million last year. UK sales rose by 18 per cent to £1.175bn and UK customer numbers  exceeded 7 million. Meanwhile, EU sales increased by 22 per cent with active customer numbers up by 18 per cent; the USA also delivered 25 per cent sales growth. Sales in Australia grew by 20 per cent and the MENA region was also promising with sales in Saudia Arabia in particular growing by more than 50 per cent.

CEO Nick Beighton said: “After a record first half which saw us make progress in addressing the performance issues of the previous financial year, the second half will always be defined by our response to Covid-19. I am proud of the way ASOS met this challenge head-on, putting our duty to act as a responsible business at the heart of our approach and working to balance our performance in that context.”
