Walgreens takes stake in Birchbox

Walgreens takes stake in Birchbox

From December Birchbox will operate from 11 of Walgreens US stores as well as having an online shop on Walgreen’s website. The move follows Walgreens taking a minority stake in the online beauty subscription business. The Birchbox space in the stores will range from 400 – 800 sq.ft. in a mix of locations, ill be fully branded and carry some 40 different upmarket brands with specially trained staff also selling subscriptions. Birchbox already operates flagship stores in New York and Paris.

CEO of Birchbox, Katia Beauchamp commented: “In Walgreens, we have found an exciting partner that supports our mission of reaching an under-served customer who doesn’t prioritise beauty. Walgreens is deeply committed to beauty and shares our vision for a different type of retail experience – one that is holistic, seamless and designed to help shoppers make informed, confident decisions. Together we will continue to evolve the integration of our physical and digital shopping experiences.”
