Amazon.co.uk is moving further in the direction of a
shopping search engine with the launch of Amazon Product Ads, a cost-per-click
advertising model that allows merchants access to Amazon’s massive audience.
Already launched in the USA, Amazon.co.uk will display ads from external
websites when a customer shops for a specific or related product. Customers who
are interested in buying an advertised product can click through to that
external site and purchase it directly. To start using Amazon Product Ads,
sellers upload the catalogue of products they wish to advertise and set their
budget. Amazon will then use a variety of placements to drive targeted traffic
to a merchant’s website.
