Bonmarche increased its sales by 5.3 per cent in the year to March 26th but profits were down to £9.6 million as compared with £12.4 million for the previous year. Like many other clothing retailers, Bonmarche afforded blame to the weather which impacted seasonal purchases and has been engaged in “de-weathering” clothing like winter coats and knitwear to reduce its vulnerability. The mature women’s wear retailer achieved just a 0.7 per cent increase in its like for like store sales and a 3.6 per cent increase in online revenues.
