The German mid-market womenswear brand Basler has applied for self administration in a move to restructure its business. Basler is one of many long established brands in the womenswear market, and like the UK’s Jaeger and Austin Reed brands, has encountered difficult trading conditions. The administration will enable the business’ own team to regroup whilst reporting to an appointed administration assistant.
Basler was founded in Berlin in 1936 and has around 160 stores around the world as well as an established base of stockists. It has 4 UK stores, 10 concessions and an outlet store here and 140 stockists. It is owned by Tempus Capital with Alteri Investors providing a debt facility.
