The Wellingborough distribution centre operated for House of Fraser by XPO Logistics which became the centre of a storm between Sports Direct and XPO over unpaid invoices for costs incurred prior to Sports Direct taking ownership of the department store chain, will now be closed. The work which had been carried out at the DC will transfer to Sports Direct’s own facility. Approximately 280 staff will be made redundant in April unless XPO can transfer them to other roles within its operations.
XPO has already closed a second facility, located in Milton Keynes, which it also operated for House of Fraser and which forced 360 redundancies to be made last November.
