Amazon squeezes merchants

Amazon is charging its UK merchants the new government imposed digital services tax of 2 per cent from 1st September. The fee has been aimed primarily at overseas owned digital businesses which generate vast sums from the UK market yet avoid paying tax here. However, in Amazon’s case, it is simply passing the liability onto its merchants rather than dent its own margin.
