JD Sports has swooped to acquire DTLR Villa, a Maryland based athletic footwear and streetwear retailer. The business operates from 247 stores in 19 states and, according to Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of JD Sports it has a “deep connection” with its customers. JD Sports will pay around £355 million for DTLR which will add significantly to its presence in the US market. The transaction is expected to complete within the next two months.
