Online retailer Zavvi Group is reportedly facing an uncertain future as the business explores restructuring options, just three years after being acquired from THG.
The specialist eCommerce retailer, which sells entertainment merchandise, collectibles, clothing, and licensed products, is understood to be holding talks over its future as it looks to address financial pressures.
Zavvi was acquired from THG in 2023 as part of a management buyout led by former THG executive Paul Taylor, alongside the group’s other entertainment brands.
The business has subsequently operated independently of THG, focusing on the growing market for licensed merchandise and products aimed at collectors and so-called ‘kidult’ consumers.
However, the latest developments underline the challenging economics facing specialist online retailers, which continue to contend with rising operating costs, intense competition for digital customers and pressure on discretionary consumer spending.
Further details about the restructuring process and its potential impact on Zavvi’s operations are expected as discussions progress.
