Holland & Barrett is to invest €17.5m over three years in digital and retail fulfilment in Ireland, and will move fulfilment of its Irish online orders from the UK to Ireland from 1 November 2026.
The work will be done through an expanded three-year partnership with Road Truck Services (RTS), a logistics business based in Kildare. RTS has worked with Holland & Barrett for eight years on import, customs, warehousing and distribution.
The investment
- €8.2m in a new digital fulfilment model
- €9.3m relating to existing retail fulfilment with RTS
- around €1.5m of extra stock held in Ireland, taking total Irish stock to about €4.7m
- around 328,000 orders and 1.8 million units a year expected to pass through the Irish network
The partnership is expected to support about 20 more roles at RTS, plus agency staff at peak and six to ten indirect roles.
What changes for online customers
- From 1 November, the 5kg weight limit on Irish online orders is lifted.
- Products from 34 Irish brands are being added online.
- Next-day delivery is due to launch on 1 December.
Trading in Ireland
Around 2.8 million customers shopped with Holland & Barrett in Ireland over the past year, 300,000 of them online. In its latest financial year:
- Irish revenue rose 6.2 per cent
- store sales rose 3.6 per cent
- digital sales rose 17.9 per cent
The retailer has 70 stores and 419 staff in Ireland. It has opened three stores and relocated three in the past year, and says 90 per cent of its Irish estate has been modernised.
Vineta Bajaj, group chief financial officer, said Ireland was “one of our strongest-performing markets”, and that holding more stock locally would help the business “deliver faster and offer greater choice and availability”.
