Regatta Group, which owns the Hawkshead, Craghoppers and Dare2b
clothing brands, and nursery products marketer Kiddicare have
chosen IBM’s WebSphere Commerce platform and Salmon’s SAFE
framework to relaunch their websites.
Regatta’s group IT director, Chris Bulmer, said that following
its acquisition of Hawkshead in August 2007, Regatta had been
running an increasingly unmanageable infrastructure dependent on
disparate solutions: “Effort was centred on general web
maintenance and technology, as opposed to launching new brands,
special promotions or differentiation.” As well as a web
overhaul, Hawkshead will unveil a revamped catalogue design with
its autumn/winter edition next month.
For its part, Kiddicare, whose website generates 80 per cent of
its revenues hopes the new site will provide it with “a
higher degree of autonomy, flexibility and responsiveness to
change” and allow it to triple its online sales. Kiddicare
also integrated into its site web 2.0 technologies from Endeca
and PowerReviews for intuitive search guided selling and
navigation techniques such as tag clouds.
In keeping with its anticipated growth, Kiddicare recently built
a £16 million Peterborough distribution centre with more
than 16,000 pallet locations. In addition, it introduced 35
payment kiosks at its showroom.
