“UK retailers are woefully unprepared for the kind of
attack that was perpetrated on the US-based owner of the discount
clothing chain TK Maxx,” reports The Times. The attack, in which credit-card
data of 45.7 million US and UK customers were stolen, has been
dubbed “largest hacking and identity theft case ever
prosecuted” by the US Department of Justice.
Also from The Times: Marks & Spencer’s head of
international, Carl Leaver, has been charged with running the
retailer’s homewares and web businesses as well, leading to
speculation that he is a leading candidate to succeed Sir
Stuart Rose as chief executive.
