Royal Mail “is to call for price controls in the
market to be lifted after revealing that the company lost
£200 million on its regulated letters and parcels business
last year,” reports The Independent. Royal Mail’s announcement
of its results for fiscal 2007 came “less than 48 hours
after an independent investigation into deregulation of the
postal market said the [price control] reforms had delivered no
benefits to most customers and put the finances of the
state-owned company under severe strain”.

Tesco has launched a speciality website catering to
Poles in the UK, reports the Daily Mail. The site is presented in both
Polish and English and several hundred Polish food products,
including energy drink Tiger and tripe soup.

Next chief executive Simon Wolfson told The Times “that the first clothing
inflation for more than a decade could hit the high street
early next year”.
