Traidcraft, a development charity whose ethos is to
fight poverty through trade, is profiled in FT.com in an article headlined
“Christians, cookies and capitalism”.

Computer retailer PC World is planning to spend a
third of its advertising budget online this year according to
PC Retail. The DSGi-owned business
currently only allocates 2 per cent of its budget to online
advertising.

Online Financial News notes that
“private equity firms looking for deals in the retail
sector may need to put designer stilettos or polyester jeans on
their shopping lists this year.” The piece quotes Anne
Hoffmann, a partner at mid-market private equity group Graphite
Capital who argues that while the luxury and value sectors are
“holding up well”, mass-market retailers are
“finding life a lot more difficult”. However, all
is not lost-Hoffmann adds that “good retailers will
always do well, even in a downturn.”
