Findel has sold its James Galt business to
Elmer’s Products, a US manufacturer of crafts products,
for £9 million. James Galt manufactures educational toys;
Findel said the sale was part of its strategy to focus
“on its core home shopping and educational supplies
businesses”, reported Thomson Merger News.
Printer Quebecor World abruptly shut its Corby plant,
making all 320 employees redundant, reports Northampton’s
Evening Telegraph. The Canadian parent
company had filed for creditor protection covering its US and
Canadian divisions last month but was hoping to sell the UK
subsidiary.
DSGi, the parent company of online electricals retailer
Dixons and cataloguer/retailer PC World,
confirmed to Channel Register that the European
Competition Commission raided its Hemel Hempstead offices as
part of an investigation into alleged collusion between
Intel and retailers.
The Western Mail reports that JoJo
Maman Bebe expects to create 32 jobs in the next three
years in Newport, Wales, once it opens its new warehouse there
at the end of the month. The maternity and nursery products
cataloguer/retailer also plans to open a full-price store and
an outlet on the site.
