Littlewoods announced several executive changes. According
to the Liverpool Daily Post, David Inglis was
promoted from buying and merchandising director to trading
director; he had previously been in charge of non-food sales at
Asda. Also, Clive Briscoe has left his post as Littlewoods’ sales
and marketing director.

When an article is titled “Catalogues of disaster”,
you know it’s not going to be full of good news. The Yorkshire Evening Post’s article of
that name is the latest to ring the death knell for the
“big book” catalogues, prompted by Redcats’
announcement earlier this month that it would be closing its
Empire Stores title.

going ahead with the transaction.

bankruptcy protection. According to wire service Canadian Press, the company’s inability to
sell its European operations contributed to its cash flow
problems.
