Former Goldsmiths owner Jurek Piasecki is accusing
PricewaterhouseCoopers of refusing to speak with him regarding
his proposal to acquire Aurum, the jewellery business that
includes Mappin & Webb and Mydiamonds.com as well
as Goldsmiths. Now-defunct Icelandic holding company
Baugur had held a significant stake in Aurum, and
according to The Telegraph, Aurum is said to be on the
verge of a prepack administration.

Tools cataloguer/retailer Screwfix is launching
another spin-off title. According to The Times, it will mail Electricfix,
catering to electricians, next week. It launched Plumbfix,
targeting plumbers, last year.

In an interview with ThisIsMoney.co.uk, Shop Direct chief
Mark Newton-Jones says that the company will expand into
Continental Europe with a website in July.

Party Pieces of cashing in on Kate Middleton’s

party accessories. Middleton is the daughter of Party Pieces
founders Michael and Carole Middleton. Never mind that it’s all
but impossible to run a successful party business without
offering princess-theme goodies for little girls.
