Are you ready for Mega Monday? That’s what the pundits have
dubbed today, predicted to be the busiest day of the year for
online sales. According to The Daily Mail, 1:31 p.m. will be the
busiest minute of the busiest day, with consumers spending more
than £16,000 a second.
In a Telegraph article about companies failing
to pass on the VAT cut to consumers, Cotton Traders
director Steve Smith “said some of its customers would
not get lower prices because the cut was announced after its
current mail order catalogue was printed”. He added that
“only two out of some 3,000 customers asked about the
rate so it doesn’t seem to have made much of a
difference”.
DVD, CD and games etailer The Hut won the Bank of
Scotland’s Entrepreneur Challenge, reports The Times.
Lakeland, Tesco Direct, Hardcloud, Great Little Trading Co,
John Lewis and The White Co are among the
cataloguers included in The Daily Mail’s “ultimate internet
gift guide”.
The Real Seed Catalogue, The Organic Gardening Catalogue
and Chiltern Seeds received a thumbs-up from the RHS
Advisory Service in The Telegraph.
The Organic Gardening Catalogue was cited in The Times’ roundup of gardening gifts as
well. Fellow cataloguers Crocus, Harrod Horticultural
and Wiggly Wigglers made the list as well.
And cataloguers Architectural Plants and Sarah
Raven’s Kitchen & Garden get the nod from The Independent as sources for gardening
