Sales and profits are up at Tesco, but the
company says it is “assuming that the retail environment
will remain challenging in 2011”. Group sales rose 8.1
per cent to £67.6 billion in the 52 weeks ended 26th
February, with underlying pretax profit up 12.3 per cent to
£3.8 billion. Tesco says its online business grew strongly
during the period, up 15 per cent on last year. Its UK nonfood
online arm Tesco Direct grew 30 per cent during the year. The

Adam Gore, managing director of
find-me-a-gift.co.uk told the BusinessDesk.com of the company’s
first-quarter success. Sales are up 25 per cent above previous
estimates, helped in part by the strong demand for royal wedding
memorabilia.
Catalogue and magazine printer Polestar has been acquired by Sun
European Partners for an undisclosed sum.
