, is considering a £150 million takeover of
struggling nursery and maternity products retailer
Mothercare, writes the Telegraph.

In a move that breaks with DIY tradition, Wickes
has opened its first high street store, reports the Daily Mail. The “micro-store”,
says the piece, is part of Wickes’ wider multichannel
strategy.

Last Monday was Amazon‘s busiest day ever,
processing some 3 million transactions. This was up from 2.3
million transactions during the previous year’s Cyber Monday.
However, on the high street, shop takings in London’s West End
fell by 10 percent compared with last year on the first day of a
traffic-free weekend, writes the Telegraph.

John Lewis is not one of those retailers
complaining of lower takings. Managing director Andy Street told
the Telegraph he’s optimistic about Christmas
despite the widespread gloom.

Sex-toy and lingerie retailer Ann Summers has
unveiled a new website as part of its company rebrand. The new
site includes improved navigation, product detail pages and an
image-zoom function.

Devon-based chocolate firm Browne’s is toasting
success after it was acquired out of administration earlier this
year. Now owned by Keohane and Nick Baker, the business has
started to trade online and supplies Waitrose
and Tesco. It is also in talks with
Harrods, writes local paper the Western Morning News.
